Overnight Accommodations for Your Guests
We suggest you block rooms as soon as possible. Securing accommodations is one of the most challenging things about having your wedding in the Central Adirondacks. There are no hotels or motels in Raquette Lake. If you desire traditional lodging such as hotels or motels you will need to book accommodations anywhere in a 15 mile radius (Inlet or Blue Mountain Lake) or a 25 mile radius (Old Forge, Indian Lake or Long Lake) or a 42 mile radius (North Creek). We can make suggestions for whom to call if you are interested in a Shuttle Service from hotel(s) to the WW Durant.
Great Camp Sagamore
On the other hand, if you and your guests would like to stay at the Alfred Vanderbilt wilderness estate, consider renting out Great Camp Sagamore for the weekend. Great Camp Sagamore, located just four miles from Raquette Lake village on its own private lake, is an extraordinary, historic icon of American Adirondack style – where celebrities, politicians and world leaders have gathered to dream big, connect with others and allow ideas to take root. It is a National Historic Landmark celebrating the work of architect/developer, William West Durant. A wilderness estate that is the prototype of Adirondack style, Sagamore was the Adirondack home of the Vanderbilt family and staff–a rustic community that was famous for parties, people, celebrities and visiting world leaders from 1901 to 1954.

St. Williams on Long Point
If you’re the adventurous kind, consider renting out St. Williams on Long Point. Boat access only, this venue which sleeps 19, would be a great place for a large family to stay. While there are individual bedrooms and baths, the kitchen, dining and living room are common areas which everyone shares. Staying at St. Williams is very convenient if you’re also planning on having your ceremony at the church.
Staying at St. Williams might be a fun experience for friends of the bride and groom.
Birch Cottage on Raquette Lake
Another recommendation we can make for housing is to rent Birch Cottage on Raquette Lake for a smaller group of up to eight people. You can see St. Williams from the Birch Cottage dock. It’s just a short paddle or boat ride over to St. Williams. Birch Cottage rents by the week only during July and August but is available for rent weekends in June, September and October. Birch Cottage would make an ideal headquarters for the bride’s family. For details, visit their listing on adkbyowner.com.
