Day 3- Rachel’s, Donna’s & Daisy’s hiking adventure continued…..Pharaoh Mt
Day 3 Pharaoh Mountain
Ed was having breakfast too and gave us first-hand knowledge of what to look for finding the Pharaoh Mt trailhead and what to expect. He had hiked it several times.
North on Route 9 to Alder Meadow Road. Turn right on Alder Meadow Rd. for 2.2 miles, then left on Crane Pond Rd. for 1.5 miles to the official parking area. The road beyond is quite rough but still drivable with high clearance vehicles.
If you don’t have a suitable vehicle park here and walk the 1.6 miles of rough road to a flooded area with a trail bypass to the left that leads to Crane Pond, 2.0 miles from the parking area.
9.8 miles RT (from parking area) Moderate Climb but a long trail, Elevation 2556′. Time in hours to Summit: 3.5 hrs Round Trip.
Turns out we could have driven the 1.6 miles (and Rachel’s car rides low).
Luckily, the trail wasn’t flooded and we didn’t get our feet wet.
Lots of big rocks
The trail floor reflected the trees growing in the area.
Treats for a good hiking partner!
