Wedding Planner

Donna B. Pohl has more than 25 years of experience planning weddings and other events from start to finish, not only for Raquette Lake Navigation on the WW Durant and some off-site venues, but also as President of and event planner for the regional chamber of commerce (CAA) and as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Long Lake Central School. CAA events included a huge motorcycle rally, Thunder in Old Forge and Snodeo, a snowmobile event attracting hundreds. LLCS hosted a Diversity Awareness Day with many presenters and workshops as well as a Health and Wellness Day organized similarly.  In the off-site weddings department Donna and her team executed one for 200 at View in Old Forge and several at Great Camp Sagamore, ranging in headcount from 100 to 150.  Taking place on the WW Durant she and her staff have organized close to 300 wedding receptions of various sizes and complexities.

Special Events Coordinator/Beverage Manager

Rachel C. Pohl has grown to maturity working in the family-owned and operated business, from age thirteen to the present time. As the beverage manager and special events coordinator for the last three years, Rachel has begun to understand the complexities of planning a flawless event. She has planned and executed such varying events as wine and beer food pairings, tastings and themed parties such as Jimmy Buffet and Gilligan’s Island. Her biggest challenge to date was helping plan and execute a 150 person off-site catered wedding where the bride and her mother had very specific ideas on what they wanted, for the bar especially. Mother and bride were completely satisfied at the conclusion of the celebration.

Executive Chef

Chef Jim Pohl, a 2003 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, has worked in the seasonal family business with the culinary staff since he was a boy. To his list of restaurant experiences he includes working in Clearwater Beach, Florida, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Rochester. Chef Jim is responsible for creating and executing all menus on the boat, including supervising the culinary staff, ordering all food from purveyors and monitoring inventory. Jim and his sister Rachel collaborate in developing beer and wine food pairing menus as well as menus for other special events.
