Death Joins the Club

Last Friday Aug 7 a murder mystery occurred around us, unfolding in two acts.

Setting: We were at the famed Pfeiffer Hills Country Club, so exclusive even the members aren’t sure where it is! Pedigree and breeding are everything at this club. You must have a personal worth in excess of $500 million just to apply.

The characters

Philip, Winnie, Bunny, Gunnar & Millie in a toast just before Bunny collapses from poisoning

Millicent Fister Pfieffer- Millie has only 2 talents which can be mentioned in polite society. One is making photocopies and the other is marrying rich old men for their money. She is the recent widow of Frederick “Big Fred” Pfieffer, multi-billionaire and owner of Pfieffer Hills.

Frederica Pfieffer-Vanderbilker “Bunny”…daughter of the late Frederick Pfieffer and true blue blood from all the way back, she considers the British Royal family to be “new money.” She also considers anyone who poses a threat to her vision of the family heritage expendable.

Philip Pfieffer- Bunny’s brother, everyone calls him “Sudsy” as he is a life-long lover of bubble baths. He and Winnie are secretly lovers.

Gunnar is the Pfieffer Hills golf and tennis pro. No one knows for certain where he came from or even if he plays golf and tennis. Gunnar is famous for his “one on one lessons with the member’s wives but no one is complaining…..yet.”

Winifred Rockefellow, former wife of Bucky Vanderbilker and now manager of the Cater Waiters, Winnie was stung by an ironclad “all or nothing” prenuptial agreement when her husband left her for Bunny. A spectacular free-fall from being super rich to zero forced her to go to work at the club and wait on all the snobs she used to buddy with.
